Print Shift Lead is a hands-on leader focused on implementing and sustaining improvements, solving problems, leading team members, and driving quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment by following safety policies and LOTO procedures.
  • Lead and mentor team members to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Manage schedule and material changes efficiently.
  • Monitor machine output for non-conformance and resolve defects.
  • Complete production progress and inventory status reports.
  • Interact with shop floor management to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Create work orders and verify plate locations for efficient changeovers.
  • Maintain organized and clean work areas following 5S methodology.
  • Conduct pre-shift production meetings and provide hands-on support to team members.
  • Report safety issues, quality concerns, and production bottlenecks to the shift supervisor.
  • Audit adherence to production standards and SOPs, escalating non-conformances.
  • Perform Print Operator duties, including securing printing plates, starting presses, checking proofs, and inspecting samples.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, pail specifications, colors, or special printing instructions.
  • start press and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
  • Inspect random samples during the print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
  • Direct and monitor work of press crews assigned to that machine.
  • Unload pails or load pails on the machine as needed.
  • Place pallets down at designated location for packing
  • Wrap pallets and place trays on pallets as needed.
  • Clean ink fountains, plates, rollers, or cylinders when press job is completed.
  • Change press plates, blankets and mandrels when needed.
  • Must have good organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 45-55 pounds occasionally.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Work in a noisy, hot/cold manufacturing environment with required PPE.
  • Experience with molding machines (Husky, BMB, Van Dorn, Engel, Milacron) is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to learn Lean Manufacturing and improve processes.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED.
