Nesco resource is looking for a Material Handler located in New Milford, CT. This is a direct hire opportunity for the right candidate.

Shift: Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM

Pay: $18-$19/Hour Depending on experience

Position Overview: Reporting to the Logistics and Inventory Supervisor, the Material Handler will divide their time between handling materials and supporting the shipping/receiving department, with the balance fluctuating based on operational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform various shipping and receiving tasks, providing backup support to the Stockroom and Receiving Clerks, as well as other team members.
  • Inspect incoming packages for damage and ensure accuracy in descriptions.
  • Receive, sort, label, and stock finished goods from vendors or production into the database system.
  • Review and fulfill sales orders by picking and packing parts, ensuring quantities and shipping specifications are accurate before preparing items for shipment.
  • Retrieve and distribute inventory, job kits, carts, and hardware from the stockroom.
  • Pack and ship products domestically and internationally using company software and shipping services such as US Government Client, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and YRC Online.
  • Conduct inventory counts and enter data for stock adjustments, transfers, and cycle counts.
  • Assist in preparing for annual physical inventory.
  • Build crates and packaging for equipment and parts, utilizing instructions from BOMs, engineers, or management as necessary.
  • Safely operate power tools, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment to load and unload trucks.
  • Assist other departments with moving equipment or products within the facility as required.
  • Ensure outgoing products are in good condition and properly labeled with packing slips, legends, nametags, and any required certifications (e.g., UL stickers).
  • Maintain a clean and organized crating and shipping area.
  • Manage and maintain inventory on wire racks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Attributes:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in computer systems, including internet, email, and shipping platforms (FedEx, US Government Client, UPS, DHL).
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Skilled in constructing wooden crates for packaging.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and remain on your feet for most of the workday.
  • Comfortable using ladders to assist with large crate construction.
  • Familiarity with measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting drawings and experienced with operating forklifts.
  • Strong team player, able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and basic math in English.
