A major medical facility in Melville, NY seeks an Insurance AR Follow-Up Representative in Physician Billing. This is a full-time position and is onsite.

Summary:
Responsible for accurate and timely follow-up of outstanding claims, responding to inquires and correspondence for assigned accounts in accordance with established procedures. Ensure that all external customers (patients/visitors/guests) receive prompt attention. Handles telphone inquires, resolving customer questions. Strives to address external and internal customer needs and concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Displays courtesy, tact and diplomacy when dealing with employees, patients, physicians and other institutions.
  • Responds to inquires via telephone, fax and mail.
  • Works on aging self-pay work ques as assigned, calls respective responsible parties and updates billing system.
  • Accepts and processe credit card payments via phone. Generates receipts to send to patients.
  • Updates, calls, researches workers comp and no-fault pending with accurate billing information.
  • Updates Medicaid eligibility results in billing system.
  • Brings ongoing issues distributing the usual billing and payment cycle to supervisor attention.
  • Internet website utilization.

Education / Work Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years healthcare billing experience/ reimbursement or collections experience

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Computer Literacy
  • Third Party Billing
  • Third Party websites
  • Thorough knowledge of third party regulations, medical terminolgy and proper completion of CMS (HCFA) 1500.
