Position Summary

  • The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department. Supports the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. Assists in the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.
Essential Functions:
  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
  • Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.
  • Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
  • Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
  • Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Among the duties of this position are management reporting as it pertains to the Department.Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • Primary portion of work is in well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned facility.
  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking.
  • Position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, handling, and/or use of tactile information.
  • Must be able to express ideas or exchange thoughts by means of talking, hearing, reading and/or writing.
  • Motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination and may include transporting objects and lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to various types of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and other agents utilized in factory.
Experience/Education
  • Eight years or more of related experience required, previous experience in manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Adminstration required
License/Certification Requirement
  • Certified Public Accountant
