CNC Machinist and Setup Specialist/Foreman

Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC operator proficient in both machining and setup, capable of running production work in a low volume, high mix business. The ideal candidate should understand machining processes and CNC capabilities/limitations, and be open to supporting other departments as needed to ensure company success.

Responsibilities

  • Machining and Production:

    • Prestage tooling for upcoming work to ensure minimal machine downtime.
    • Inspect parts per the in-process inspection paperwork to ensure high quality and consistency.
    • Fill out and maintain all quality and production-related paperwork.
    • Correctly understand and utilize the time clock for accurately tracking setup/run times on production jobs.
    • Work with the department lead to implement continuous improvement ideas.
    • Maintain an organized department with resources such as tooling, holders, fixtures, and inspection equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
    • Calibrate machines and complete probe calibration procedures to ensure accuracy before each shift.
    • Clean machines before the end of each shift.
    • Work in a multifunctional capacity with other departments when needed.
    • Adhere to QMS requirements.
    • Troubleshoot production problems when they occur.
    • Schedule cleaning and preventative maintenance on the machines per department schedule.
  • Setup and Operation:

    • Set up and operate CNC vertical mills, Bridgeports, and associated equipment to produce quality parts in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Edit CNC programs to ensure parts meet customer requirements.
    • Ensure machines are calibrated and correctly warmed up at the beginning of each shift.
    • Complete probe calibration procedures to ensure machines are accurate when setting up for production.
    • Work with department lead and engineering to develop and implement continuous improvement ideas.
    • Teach and direct other employees.

Qualifications

  • 3 years' experience setting up and operating vertical CNC mills, Bridgeports, and associated equipment.
  • Multiple years' experience operating vertical CNC mills and Bridgeports.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and understanding of G-code (understanding Siemens is a plus).
  • Proficient in blueprint reading.
  • Understanding of GD&T callouts and their control over the part.
  • Proficient in using inspection equipment from calipers to comparators.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Highly compatible with a small team environment.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced production environment and deal with multiple priorities.
  • Dependable with reliable transportation.
  • Punctual with clocking in and out.
  • Organized and efficient with workspace and company equipment.
  • Willing to learn and progress abilities and understanding of machining and manufacturing.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively.
Shift/Pay:
  • A Shift (7 AM - 3:30 PM)
  • $25 - $35 an Hour (Based on Exp.)
