Nesco Resource is seeking a Field & General Territory Data Center & Server Break Fix Technician in the Greater Ashburn & Reston VA Areas. This is an opportunity to work with a premier Worldwide IT Integration Corporation. This is a Field Dispatched from remote location opportunity.
Schedule is Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. On call every other week.
This is a right to hire and full benefits after 90 days.
About the Role: As a Dell & IBM Server Break Fix Technician, you will be responsible for the on-site troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Dell and IBM servers. You will ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance of server systems to support the IT infrastructure of our clients. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teravel the given Field (Ashburn and 90 mins in any direction)
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Dell and IBM servers and associated hardware.
- Perform hardware replacements and part swaps, including motherboards, hard drives, memory, power supplies, and other components, often without supervision.
- Conduct routine maintenance and system upgrades to ensure server performance and reliability.
- Respond promptly to service requests and ensure timely resolution of issues to minimize downtime.
- Self-diagnose hardware issues and take corrective actions to resolve them effectively.
- Collaborate with IT support teams to identify and resolve server-related issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, including work orders, repair logs, and inventory management.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients, ensuring their understanding of server issues and solutions.
- Adhere to company and industry standards, including ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols.
- Stay updated on the latest Dell and IBM server technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications in Dell and/or IBM server technologies (e.g., Dell EMC Certified Specialist, IBM Certified Specialist) preferred.
- Proven experience in server maintenance and repair, specifically with Dell and IBM hardware.
- Strong understanding of server architectures, RAID configurations, and network storage systems.
- Proficient in diagnosing hardware issues and performing component-level repairs.
- Experience in hands-on part swaps and repairs without supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requests efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move server hardware and related equipment
- Ability to work in various environments, including data centers and office settings.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary
