Shipper Forklift Operator
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 5:59 AM – 4:30 PM, some Friday's and weekends.
Job Summary: Our client is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipper to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and managing shipping operations to ensure that all orders are accurately and efficiently processed. This role requires a candidate who is both capable of handling computer or administrative tasks in the shipping department and hands-on with forklift operations. This is NOT a strictly forklift position.
Key Responsibilities: Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to load and unload orders, ensuring that only one order is loaded on a truck at a time.
Order Accuracy: Ensure all loose pieces are properly loaded onto trucks and verify that orders meet the client's quality standards.
Shipping Coordination: Organize the pallets into the shipping line and coordinate with other departments as needed.
Departmental Support: Shift between forklift operation and desk responsibilities, including opening the shipping department (chalking tires, opening gates, assigning doors, etc.).
Inventory Management: Provide inventory control with a weekly shipping supply list, take weekly inventory of pallets, and address any shipping issues promptly.
Supervision: Oversee employees in the shipping department, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
Documentation: Create bills of lading for orders to ship, label pallets/pieces, and ensure all documentation is accurate.
Quality Control: Conduct spot checks on loaded orders, ensure strapping is done correctly, and close trucks as they are completed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a forklift operator.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and shift between physical and administrative duties.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and shipping documentation.
