Job Summary:
The rigger will manufacture, test and repair lifting slings and an assorted type of assemblies made from wire rope and chain. The assemblies vary in size, length and hardware to accommodate the customer's needs. This position is labor intensive and works in an indoor shop with no heat and no air conditioner. This position requires the ability to work with machinery and measurement and requires some mathematical skills.
Duties:
- Selects products, such as hooks, sleeves, shackles, wire rope, etc. according to fabrication ticket.
- Assembles, fabricates, and repairs rigging such as, wire rope slings and assemblies, tow cables, etc.
- Measure wire rope, chain and rope to specific length and select correct diameter.
- Attaches fittings to wire rope, chain, and rope with appropriate equipment, such as hydraulic press, pneumatic press, or hand press.
- Manipulates wire rope, chain, or rope to form slings and other products to specifications of fabrication ticket.
- Controls movement of forklift through narrow openings and tight spaces.
- Tag products with proper identification and warnings.
- Inspect rigging assemblies according to industry, OSHA, MSHA, and ASME standards.
- Complete product quality control inspections and complete appropriate paperwork to meet ISO standards.
- Test products to specifications and document.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Report any incidents (spills, accidents, injuries, unsafe concerns, and quality concerns).
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Math aptitude
- Acceptable background and drug screen
- Sense of urgency and self-motivation; able to work independently and with others.
