Our client, a leading industrial manufacturing company is looking for a skilled Welding Engineer to contribute to the development and growth of a dedicated welding center of excellence. This role will focus on project-specific welding support for the company's network of industrial businesses, emphasizing cutting-edge technologies and growth in U.S.-based manufacturing.
Position Summary
The Welding Engineer will oversee weld processes across a diverse range of methods, acting as a subject matter expert and optimizing weld quality. This position will collaborate closely with internal and external teams to define and meet quality and testing standards for welded assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, optimize, and manage weld processes and parameters across electron beam welding, laser beam welding, gas tungsten arc welding, orbital tube welding, and gas metal arc welding.
Provide expertise and guidance to engineering and trades teams on project welding requirements, interpretation of technical drawings, applicable codes, and both destructive and non-destructive testing.
Coordinate with quality and testing stakeholders to define processes and standards for welded assemblies.
Identify opportunities for in-house vs. outsourced welding quality and testing solutions, managing relationships with key vendors.
Qualifications
MUST-HAVE In-depth knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes BPVC (e.g., Sec VIII Divs. 1 & 2).
Hands-on and design experience with materials such as carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, and high-nickel alloys.
Strong understanding of welding processes, including electron beam, laser beam, gas tungsten arc, and gas metal arc.
Experience with tooling design for welded assemblies to minimize part distortion and improve consistency.
Bachelor's degree in Welding or Mechanical Engineering, with 5 years in design, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or testing of welded assemblies.
Familiarity with ASME BPVC design tools, such as DesignCalcs.
Experience working with ASME Authorized Inspection Authorities (AIAs).
AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) and/or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
NDT Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret a range of technical instructions and documents.
Compensation
Salary range: $80-115K DOE, with eligibility for an annual bonus plan and long-term incentive plan.
Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Location
Rochester NY, with 100% onsite work required.
