Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in production or quality assurance.

The primary responsibility for this role is to support the Additive Manufacturing Lab and Laser Cutting Lab. Main duties are centered around laser cutting a wide variety of materials to meet customer needs.
The candidate will own the entire laser cutting process:
-design laser cutting CAD files to meet customer request,
-operate laser cutting machines (CO2 lasers and fiber lasers),
-post process parts to meet customer expectations.

In addition, candidate will work with maintaining 3D-printers, support lab engineering build of 3-D printing. This person will be required to perform all functions associated with the additive manufacturing process which includes, but is not limited to, machine operation, hands-on post-processing, specification compliance, completeness, accuracy, design soundness, interpretation of ANSI Y14.5 drawing and GD&T standards, fabrication, assembly, installation, customer interface, and data management.

Candidate must coordinate and work technical hands-on duties and activities concurrently while maintaining and programming Laser Cutters and 3D printing machines.
The technician will work with the Additive manufacturing Lab team members, providing technical assistance to develop products, and coordinating with other lab and program groups as required.

Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree NOT required for this role.
Must have 1-3 years' experience mechanical skills in assembly of engineering prototype hardware. Sanding, painting and general assembly of plastic and metal hardware components
5 years' experience, maintaining, cleaning mechanical equipment and technical lab environment.
1-3 years' experience in mechanical design with Pro/E/CREO or other CAD models, and GD&T with excellent computer skills.
1-3 years' experience of additive manufacturing and laser cutting technologies.
2-4 years' experience processing and handling delicate model type components for 3D modeling lab.
Ability to follow Engineering development and design processes.
High School diploma or equivalent with experience working in a team environment.

Desired Skills:
Self-starter able to work with minimum supervision.
Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.
Possible use with, and working knowledge of composites and plastics, bonding agents, primers, paints, fillers, epoxies, composites and related processes also a plus.
