We are seeking a Sr. Industrial DC Services Engineer to oversee and execute specialized testing, troubleshooting, inspections, and assessments of electrical systems and apparatus. This role requires providing technical support to a regional team of service engineers. The position demands significant focus and concentration, as you will be juggling multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Field Engineer position operates with minimal supervision and is designed for highly experienced professionals in the field.

Location: U.S Remote; international travel; frequent domestic travel;
Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot & Test Electrical Systems:
    • Perform advanced troubleshooting and testing of electrical systems, including UPS, battery systems, and various types of power metering.
    • Lead high-profile projects such as UPS acceptance testing, commissioning large DC systems, and managing "turnkey" projects.
    • Develop and implement new testing and inspection methods in emerging areas of field services.
    • Utilize AC/DC load banks and power quality instrumentation for comprehensive troubleshooting of UPS, chargers, and battery systems.
  • Installation and Start-Up Services:
    • Oversee the installation and start-up of all UPS and DC/battery systems, ensuring proper setup and functionality.
  • Complex Engineering Studies:
    • Lead and/or supervise complex engineering studies when required, providing expert analysis and evaluation.
  • Reporting & Billing:
    • Generate comprehensive, detailed reports upon project completion and ensure accurate job billing via computer systems.
  • Equipment Labeling Projects:
    • Conduct complex evaluations for equipment labeling projects, adhering to industry standards and local requirements.
  • Sales & Client Support:
    • Maintain strong relationships with clients and provide ongoing support for sales and business development activities.
    • Handle all aspects of client proposals, including estimates, scoping, and pricing.
    • Actively participate in business development efforts and client interactions.
  • Training and Mentoring:
    • Serve as a mentor to junior Field Service Engineers, offering guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with at least six years of experience, or a graduate of a relevant electrical technical school or military equivalent with nine years of related experience, or a high school diploma with a minimum of ten years of related work experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of industry standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA, and NFPA.
    • Extensive experience with power quality surveys, power systems analysis, and equipment testing, including high voltage substation start-up and UPS systems.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in handling complex electrical systems, including medium and high voltage equipment testing up to the 500 kV class.
    • Strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems and an aptitude for evaluating and troubleshooting complex issues.
    • Experience managing large-scale projects, delivering within budget and schedule constraints.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills to effectively manage projects and teams.
    • Expertise in using Microsoft Word, internet research, and computer-controlled test equipment for analysis and reporting.
  • Work Environment & Availability:
    • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and occasional night shifts.
    • Willingness to travel, including potential international assignments for extended periods (up to several weeks).
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand, walk, use hands for handling tools or controls, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally lift and move heavy equipment.
    • Must have valid Driver's License and be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
