Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid Work Schedule Available)
We are a well-established law firm seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic and close-knit team in our New York City office. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of litigation experience, specifically with negligence and personal injury cases. This is a full-time position offering a hybrid work schedule based on tenure and measurable productivity. As a member of our team, you will be expected to demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders. Provide timely updates and gather necessary information to support legal strategies and case progression.
- Discovery Management: Prepare, serve, and track discovery demands, responses, and authorizations. Ensure compliance with all discovery deadlines and requirements, managing the flow of documents efficiently.
- Medical Records Management: Obtain, review, and organize medical records, expert reports, and other relevant documents. Prior experience in reviewing and summarizing medical records is a significant plus.
- Court Filings: Prepare, file, and track court documents in accordance with local, state, and federal rules. Ensure that all submissions are accurate and meet the required deadlines.
- Case Preparation & Trial Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files, preparing exhibits, and drafting legal documents.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance, such as managing case calendars, coordinating schedules, and handling legal correspondence.
Qualifications:
- Required Experience: A minimum of 4-5 years of litigation experience is required, with a focus on negligence and personal injury cases. Experience handling complex legal matters is highly preferred.
- Education & Certification: A Paralegal Certificate is preferred, though relevant experience may substitute for formal certification.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to professionally engage with clients, attorneys, and external parties.
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple cases and priorities with precision.
- Acute attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Familiarity with medical records and the ability to review, summarize, and organize medical documents in the context of personal injury claims.
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
