Job Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities as a Project Manager Lvl 1 includes assisting higher level project managers in coordinating plans and directing activities of designated project(s) to ensure that company and customer objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame while adhering to cost parameters by performing the required project management duties.
- Responsibilities as Estimator Lvl 1 consist of assisting the Estimating Manager in preparing and/or coordinating of complete estimates on med-small projects as required by the client's documents.
- Responsibilities as Detailer Lvl l include assisting the Detailing Manager in generating part drawings, shop drawings, and field layouts instructions to facilitate the fabrication and erection of the steel framework in a timely manner based on each project's required costs & time schedules.
The essential authorities, responsibilities and functions consist of, but are not limited to the following:
Project Manager Section:
- Assists higher level Project Managers with managing all aspects of projects.
- Assists review of project proposal or project plan to determine timeline, cost limitations, procedures for accomplishing project(s) .
- Assists in establishing a job system flow chain of events utilizing Microsoft Project software.
- Attend job meetings with General Contractors.
- Assists in establishing working plans for each phase of the project(s), i.e. drawings, materials, subcontractors.
- Assists in establishing assigned duties for main areas of concern, i.e. drawings, material, subcontractors.
- Helps to develop detailed plans for each phase of the project(s), i.e. timeline, sequences, hours, materials, drawings, fabrication and subcontractors.
- Helps coordinate and directs activities of the project(s) to ensure that the project(s) progresses in accordance with established milestones and within prescribed cost guidelines.
- Monitor materials and changes.
- Assists in monitoring shop and subcontractor labor hours and issues.
- Possesses an entry level ability to manage projects through the shop and/or through subcontracted shops.
- Assists in coordinating & Communicating detailing requirements with the Detailing Manager.
- Process in a timely manner Requests for Information (RFI's) and maintain log.
- Assists in continually reviewing the status of all aspects of the project, as it applies to our job scope, modify schedules or plans accordingly, i.e. drawings, materials, labor and deliveries.
- Continually update the job history file.
- Assists in coordinating shipping arrangements and costs with the Structural Dept Shipping Manager.
- Assists in managing multiple projects ranging between $1 to $100,000.
- Assists in managing multiple projects ranging between 1 ton to 25 tons.
- Assists in preparing, maintaining and submitting invoices or AIA requests for payment.
- Assists the Structural Fabrication Manager in consistently & accurately prepare and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client's documents, provides complete conceptual and total bid price for final review by the Estimating Manager.
- Prepare take offs for quoting using Tekal EPM, excel spreadsheets, 3D modeling software, or handwritten that result in a complete takeoff summary for the Structural Fabrication Manager to review and put together the final quote value.
- Prepare Tekla EPM generated Quote write ups for presenting to the customers for the Structural Fabrication Manager's review.
- Assists the Detailing Manager (when not Project managing/estimating) in the creation of 3D models, part drawings, assembly drawings, and layouts for shop fabrication and field installation.
- Possess an entry level of ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Has an entry level ability to perform structural/misc detailing using Tekla Structures for the generating of shop part drawings, assembly drawings, and field layout drawings.
- Possesses an entry level of knowledge about exporting & importing detailing data from Tekla Structures to Fabtrol for the purpose of tracking drawing submittals, material purchases, shop cut sheet/fit weld documents, and BOL's for shipping.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to use rulers with scales for dimensional analysis.
- To perform the job successfully, an individual should be proficient with detailing software, estimating software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, e-mail software, and the use of the Internet. Also required is the ability to use large format printers and their associated software efficiently.

- A Basic understanding of steel fabrication including the ability to create, read, and understand details and assembly drawings; the ability to discuss technical issues with HSS employees and customers.

- Being a responsible employee which includes: performing all work in a safe environment, being trained in the proper safety requirements and performing all work in a quality manner.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Works mostly indoors.
- Occasionally visit Job Sites to meet with Customers & Resolve Issues.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required if zero related experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required with 2-5 years of related experience
