JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CMM Technician is responsible for developing, maintaining, and generating CMM programs, and using the CMM and other measuring equipment to dimensionally inspect and verify production and prototype parts, components, assemblies and tooling. Documents and reports inspection results in a timely manner. Reads and interprets blueprints and Dana Manufacturing Process Sheets to determine inspection requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Create measurement programs for the CMM equipment, utilizing PCDMIS software.
Use all dimensional measuring equipment such as the CMM's, precision hand measurement tools, optical comparator, surface plate and height gage, and profilometer.
Maintain files and required documentation.
Prepare inspection reports for internal and customer submission purposes.
Assist in the analysis of dimensional and inspection problems and the implementation of corrective actions.
Ensure that Quality Operating System standards and procedures are being followed.
Input inspection results into SPC analysis software programs (such as Minitab) for process control and capability analysis purposes.
Relay inspection results to the Operations Department and/or Quality Engineers in a timely manner, to facilitate process adjustments and corrective actions.
Adhere to safety policies and standards. Maintain good housekeeping practices and 5S on equipment and in work areas. Consistently use required personal protection equipment.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of three years' experience in Quality Assurance and CMM operation and programming, preferably with PCDMIS software in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Associates Degree in metrology/calibration is preferred but not required.
Mechanical aptitude and proficiency and experience with the use of dimensional measuring equipment such as surface plate and height gage, optical comparator, calipers, I.D. and O.D .micrometers, indicators, and profilometer.
Knowledge of blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Must possess knowledge, training, and reporting in measurement system analysis and process capability / SPC.
Ability to work with operators, supervisors, and engineering and varying and changing shop schedules.
Must possess strong organizational skills and be self-motivated.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continual improvement.
Ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines
