The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading and managing continuous improvement initiatives across operations, ensuring that processes, systems, and teams are optimized for maximum efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves developing strategic improvement plans, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and overseeing the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to drive performance excellence across the organization.
The Day to Day
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop and lead the continuous improvement strategy for the organization, aligning initiatives with overall business goals.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple continuous improvement projects and capacity expansion projects, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and achievement of performance goals.
- Process Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams in analyzing and improving business processes, eliminating waste, and reducing inefficiencies in production, quality control, and operations.
- Methodology Implementation: Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping) to drive operational excellence.
- Coaching & Development: Mentor and train employees in continuous improvement principles, tools, and techniques to foster a culture of problem-solving and innovation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and external partners to ensure alignment on improvement goals and initiatives.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics and performance metrics to drive improvements, track progress, and validate outcomes.
- Change Management: Lead change management efforts to ensure the smooth adoption of continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of improvement projects, providing regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience. A Master's degree or Project Management certifications (PMP, CAPM, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience in commissioning and installing production lines or equipment in food manufacturing or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards, such as FDA, HACCP, GMP, or food safety regulations.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Knowledge of automation systems, control systems, or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a plus.
