Plant Engineer-CW
The Plant Engineer provides direction and monitoring of maintenance activities and small to medium capital projects within his/her assigned building(s) and areas. The Plant Engineer works independently to provide engineering support to a production plant or an area.
The Plant Engineer is responsible to define, organize, plan, and execute all small capital investment projects to be cost effective, timely, and safely utilize state of the art engineering concepts. The incumbent has to ensure all activities in assigned area are in accordance with accepted engineering practices, regulations, cGMP and Evonik Corporation policies and standards. This position provides technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve assigned areas in order to minimize costs and to ensure technical means for safe and high quality operation. The Plant Engineer can also be asked to be project responsible on medium size capital projects.
Responsibilities:

- Provide technical expertise, technical services, small capital project delivery for assigned customers at Tippecanoe Laboratories.
- Coordinate small capital and technical change projects through design, construction, commissioning, and qualification, and start up. This may include developing scopes, managing change controls, and generating and executing system qualification packages.
- Serve as project responsible/ Project manager or consultant when necessary on large capital projects/customer projects
- Responsible for meeting site objectives in core areas of small capital project delivery, plant engineering support, equipment reliability, improvement of equipment systems, and key support for productivity projects utilizing both external and internal resources in assigned area.
- Make and Influence key decisions and take responsibility for time schedule, costs, quality, and plant/area operability.
- Originate/ develop technical changes, improvements, along with supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain engineering specifications, standards, and equipment work instructions that are designed to increase equipment uptime, and reduce maintenance and spare part costs.
- Responsible for development of the investment and asset strategy for current and future business in assigned area.
- Prepare accurate and timely preparation for engineering expense reports as required by the site, the business line and Evonik Corporation.
Quality
Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories.
This includes but is not limited to the following:

- Adherence to all written instructions.
- Timely reporting of all deviations to supervision.
- Training on each activity is completed and current and that each employee understands their assigned duties.
- Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented.
- Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices.
- Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of any potential risk to supervision immediately.
- Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed.
- Each individual should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision.
Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS)

- Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures.
- Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities.
- Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task.
- Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times.
- Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring.
- Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace.
- Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Actively participate in the ESHS management system as directed by supervision.
Qualifications:

- Possess a highly effective knowledge of plant design, production, project management, maintenance management, policies and standards in assigned area.
- Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem solving skills to maintain customer, area, and business needs.
- Skills in successfully overcoming challenges and identifying opportunities for improvements.
- Ability to implement the fundamentals of project management and plant engineering.
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering at a minimum and 3-5 years project execution and plant experience.
- Human relation skills with emphasis on oral and written communication are essential.
- Ability to influence groups without having direct supervisory responsibility
- Good computer skills in a variety of software packages (MS Office, SAP)
- Capable of managing a budget of $2.5M -$3M/yr
- Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical processing equipment/ unit operations
