General Summary:

The Production Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of equipment used in blending, mixing, packaging, and transporting liquid or dry chemicals that are part of customer products. This position ensures the highest quality product is produced at the lowest possible cost while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements, following company policies and procedures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, start, and run machinery, ensuring adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards.
  • Weigh ingredients to meet recipe specifications, ensuring the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area, and inserting pre-blended materials into machinery.
  • Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation; troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
  • Operate machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, or handle materials in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Visually or physically examine materials to ensure they meet established standards.
  • Take material samples to the lab for evaluation and adjust batches if necessary, following lab instructions.
  • Report issues or problems to the Production Lead, Production Supervisor, or Shift Supervisor for resolution.
  • Perform all required machine cleaning.
  • Complete and maintain required system inputs and transactions, ensuring data integrity.
  • Document work completed, including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Participate in training, retraining, and continuous improvement processes and methods.
  • Follow all safety and work rules and regulations, maintaining departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear.
    • Occasionally required to sit.
    • Frequently lift/move up to 55 lbs. and occasionally handle up to 250 lbs.
    • Specific vision abilities required (close, distance, color vision, etc.).
  • Safety Equipment & Conditions:
    • Use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, shoes, dust masks, hard hats, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, chemical suits, gloves, and aprons as required.
    • Exposure to wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and outside weather conditions.
    • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes.
    • Noise levels are usually moderate, with some high-noise areas.

Competencies:

  • Cross-functional Knowledge: Plastics Industry, Manufacturing (Colorant, Mixing, Extrusion, Blending), Industrial Operations, Mechanical Operations.
  • Problem-solving Techniques: Basic level of experience.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Required: 1 year of manufacturing experience in one or more of the following:

    • Plastics Industry
    • Colorant Manufacturing
    • Mixing, Extrusion, Blending Manufacturing
    • Industrial Operations
    • Mechanical Operations
  • Additional Skills:

    • Manual Dexterity: Intermediate
    • Quantitative Skills: Intermediate
    • Reading/Comprehension: Intermediate
    • Software Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Internet): Intermediate
    • Conflict Resolution Skills: Intermediate

Job Title: Production Operator

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
