Job Summary:
We are seeking a Material Handler & Backup Driver to join our team. This role is responsible for efficiently handling pallets that require heat treating, loading delivery trucks, maintaining organization in the yard, and driving company trucks as needed. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of operating both manual and automatic trucks. Strong forklift skills and experience are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
- Load and unload the heat treatment chamber with pallets requiring heat treating.
- Ensure accurate loading of delivery trucks with the correct pallets for each customer order.
- Maintain organization in the yard area, ensuring pallets and materials are stored properly.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.
- Serve as a backup driver when needed to complete customer deliveries.
- Operate four trucks over 15,000 lbs empty, including:
- 2 flatbeds and 2 box trucks.
- 2 manual transmission and 2 automatic transmission trucks.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness of company trucks and ensure they are properly parked and secured at the end of the workday.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience in material handling and/or warehouse operations preferred.
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus but not required).
- Ability to safely operate manual and automatic trucks.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform manual labor.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
