PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The major activities or end results necessary to fulfill the position requirements on an ongoing basis)
Must be able to perform and interpret analytical measurements on chromatographic methods (GC, HPLC, IC, GPC), and mass spectrometry.
Able to do method development, validation and documentation; Set up and maintain analytical instruments (including initial and regular qualification) Run other analytical measurements if necessary, such as NMR, IR, titration, physical measurements, thermal analysis, and particle characterization etc.
Be a consultant to communicate with colleagues who have analytical questions.
Participate in their research projects.
Be responsible for all ESH and legal related issues in the lab, including but not limited to:
1) compliant with all legal requirement, including certificate, permit/license;
2) train the related employees;
3) incident/near miss reporting and investigation etc.
4) ensure know-how protection.
Participate in other shared responsibilities within the group, for example, inventories, other instrument maintenance, purchasing, ISO certification (if needed) and other related tasks.
Participate in other activities, such as documentation, reporting, safety and training etc.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE BASE:
Strong knowledge in chromatography and mass spectrometry, preferably knowledge in elemental spectrometry (ICP-OES), titration and physical measurements (thermal analysis, particle characterization), NMR and IR etc. Decent knowledge of organic and polymer chemistry.
TEAM AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Good organizational skills required, react flexibly to various assignments and different clients; Efficient use of resources (instruments, time, materials); Ability to lead a team/project in the future.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND NETWORKING
Good communication skills required in dealing with direct colleagues, internal clients, and German technical experts; Team working experience PROBLEM SOLVING AND INNOVATIVE THINKING:
Significant hands-on experience with modern organic chemistry laboratory techniques including synthesis, purification, and identification of small organic compounds. Entrepreneurship and self-determination (require establishing new methods to organization).
Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or similar discipline with minimum 3 years of working experience in instrumental analytics. Good oral and written English skills. Practical experience in analytical methods essential.
