Journeyman Tool & Die Maker wanted!
Will contribute to design and assemble metalworking dies, gauges, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications.
Use a variety of precision shop equipment and precision measuring instruments.
Compute dimensions; determine process and material or parts required.
Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on application;
solve problems relating to unusual materials, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production processes.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Technical interaction required with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to develop new tools (progressive dies through custom tools), and to conduct problem solving. Use of computers essential as all prints, communications and measurement data are electronically managed. Math skills are important for problem analysis.
Specializing in thin metal and non-metallic stampings. Very close tolerance die manufacturing skills are essential. This position supports die maintenance in a fast paced manufacturing setting. Knowledgeable in press set-up is considered valuable.
Requires HS Diploma or equivalent. AA/AS Degree and/or four year apprenticeship preferred. Must have 10 years experience in tool making. Requires expert use of all common machine shop equipment and all types of grinders.
