Summary: As a Programmer you will be responsible for writing the programs used to control production equipment at a metal cutting and bending factory in Columbus, Ohio. In this role you will develop toolpaths for Salvagnini punches, lasers, and benders using CAD/CAM software. We are looking for an experienced Programmer to join us at a our client's manufacturing plant.
Essential Duties:
- Develop programs for a variety of machines (punching, laser cutting, CNC bending) using SolidWorks.
- Follow the Group Code of Conduct and Group Compliance Manual.
- Program machines to cut and fold metal sheets into highly complex shapes.
- Modify existing programs to reduce cycle times and improve reliability.
- Interpret technical drawings and CAD models to develop efficient programs while maintaining design specifications.
- Simulate programs to validate tool paths and prevent machine crashes.
- Set up and quality test first-run parts to ensure validity of programs.
- Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot and modify programs based on machine functions and part performance.
- Create tool lists, setup sheets, and other documentation required for operators to run a job.
- Develop and maintain a library of program files, tool databases, and machine configurations for documentation and retrieval.
- Adapt to improvements made to the factory and to machine capabilities.
- Assist other programmers and share best practices with the programming team.
- Work with architects to understand project requirements and provide project updates.
- Support ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, and 37301 certifications
- Required experience programming for sheet metal bending.
- 3 years' experience using advanced CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Mastercam, or similar programs.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models, with a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience in toolpath generation and work holding methods.
- Knowledge of material properties including aluminum, copper, zinc, and steel.
- Familiarity with quality control standards, inspection methods (CMM, micrometers, calipers, etc.), and the ability to ensure that parts meet rigorous industry standards.
- Experience with robotic automation systems.
- Experience using or programming Salvagnini machines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot program and machine issues independently or in collaboration with the team.
- Fluent speaking and reading English.
