JOB SUMMARY: A powder coat paint booth operator in metal fabrication is responsible for operating and maintaining a powder coating paint booth used in the metal fabrication.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Operating powder coating equipment: The operator is responsible for operating the powder coating equipment, including the powder gun, spray booth, and oven. They must understand how to adjust the equipment to achieve the desired finish and ensure the powder is applied evenly.
- Monitoring the coating process: The operator is responsible for monitoring the powder coating process to ensure that the coating is applied evenly and uniformly. They must also check for defects and adjust the equipment as needed.
- Maintaining the powder coating booth and equipment: The operator is responsible for maintaining the powder coating booth and equipment. This includes cleaning the booth, filters, pumps, and hoses to ensure that they function properly and safely. Performing color change out and testing.
- Ensuring safety and environmental compliance: The operator must follow all safety guidelines and environmental regulations related to the use of powder coating. This includes wearing appropriate protective equipment, properly disposing of hazardous materials, and maintaining proper ventilation.
- Recording production data: The operator is responsible for recording production data, such as the amount of powder used, and any issues that arise during the powder coating process.
- Loading and unloading raw steel parts and bundling finished material with a banding maching for shipping.
- Collaborating with other paint line team members: The operator must work closely with other team members, such as painters, supervisors, and quality control, to ensure that production goals are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Overall, a successful powder coat paint booth operator in metal fabrication must have strong attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a commitment to safety and quality. They must also have a solid understanding of the powder coating process and the equipment used to apply the coating.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday Overtime and extended hours may be necessary based on department needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience operating a paint booth
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality parts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
