Reports To: Quality Foreman
Shift Options:

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated QC Shop Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting machined copper and aluminum electrical connectors within an active manufacturing environment. Your primary duties will include inspecting parts for quality defects, ensuring compliance with specifications, and providing feedback to machine operators. As the key quality contact for your shift, you will play a vital role in maintaining product quality and ensuring smooth operations on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Quality Control: Gather part samples from production machines and inspect them for quality defects using hand-held gaging tools such as calipers, thread plugs, and gage pins.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Record and report inspection results using Microsoft Excel templates. Communicate findings via email (Outlook) and in person to machine operators.
  • Collaboration and Support: Serve as the primary quality point of contact for your shift, providing quality-related guidance and support to machine operators. Respond to quality-related questions in a professional, helpful manner.
  • Training: Provide training to machine operators on quality standards and procedures when necessary.
  • Gage Calibration & Audits: Conduct gage calibrations and assist with general quality audits of the manufacturing environment for unlabeled products.
  • Material Handling: Assist in receiving raw materials and ensuring proper storage and handling.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as requested within your training level and physical capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional observational skills and a strong focus on quality assurance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues and work with the team to resolve them efficiently.
  • Gaging Equipment Proficiency: Experience with or willingness to learn how to use quality gaging equipment such as calipers, thread gages, and gage pins.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints and specifications.
  • Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and general computer navigation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with machine operators and other QC inspectors.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 35 lbs.
    • Ability to walk up to one mile per day to complete work-related tasks.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read and understand written instructions at a sixth-grade level, and communicate effectively in English.
  • ISO 9001 Knowledge (Preferred but not required): Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
