Job Title: Machine Operator

Location: Farmington, NY

Summary: Join our team as a Machine Operator and play a crucial role in the precision machining of metallic and non-metallic workpieces. In this role, you will set up and operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety and quality standards. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm, non-exempt position offering competitive pay and benefits. Shift:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Pay:

  • $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate production equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions to produce assigned products accurately.
  • Inspect parts and document findings as required.
  • Record material usage and time spent on each job.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools are returned to designated locations.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repairs using hand tools.
  • Work with close tolerances, selecting appropriate speeds, feeds, and tools for machine setups and repairs.
  • Report product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns to management.
  • Comply with company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic calculations and measurements.
  • Ability to apply common sense and troubleshoot problems effectively.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Regular exposure to humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
  • Loud noise levels in the production environment.
  • Requires standing, reaching, and using hands for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
