Job Title: Waterjet Operator

Job Summary: NESCO is hiring a Waterjet Operator for a direct-hire opportunity with a top manufacturing company. This hands-on role involves setting up and operating a waterjet machine and performing manual machining operations such as drilling, tapping, counterboring, and countersinking on various metal workpieces, including A2, 4140PH, O-1, stainless steel, 1018, and aluminum.

Shift & Pay:

  • Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday

  • Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions to determine product specifications and machining setup.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points for accurate machining.
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines such as mills and drill presses.
  • Start and monitor machine operations, making adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct trial runs to verify machine settings and program accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and programmers to resolve machining issues.
  • Load and secure workpieces manually or with a vacuum lift in the waterjet.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.
  • Maintain raw material inventory and order replacement sheet stock as needed.
  • Track and update spare parts inventory.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: 1 years of related machining experience preferred; manual milling experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Basic math skills, including algebra.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and equipment.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift, carry, or move up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, color recognition, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors with occasional outdoor tasks.
  • Noise levels are typically moderate; PPE is required.
