Nesco Resource is seeking a Materials Purchasing Manager to join our client's team at their Winchester, KY location.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The aim is to increase their clients market presence and reach by treating suppliers and clients as long-term partners with a personalized commercial approach that will turn into a competitive advantage. Their core strength has always been to offer solutions for more various qualities of plastics and assisting their partners during the full sourcing process.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of recycled materials.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate prices and terms of contracts.
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and continuously seek new suppliers to expand our network.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand and plan inventory levels.
- Manage inventory levels and work closely with warehouse team to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Develop and maintain purchasing policies and procedures.
- Manage two Buyers; oversee the purchasing team and provide guidance and training as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of suppliers and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to purchasing and supply chain management.
- Influence sourcing strategies & decision based on available and desired inventory level and quality thereof.
- Coordinate with accounting for validating cost metrics and ensuring financial compliance to targets.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly updates for the leadership team on market trends and forecasts.
- 10 years of experience in plastics purchasing, post-industrial and/or post-consumer, preferably in the recycling or waste management industry.
- Hands-on conversion experience for plastics, grinding, extrusions, float-sink technologies.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement in purchasing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with purchasing software.
- Knowledge of sustainability and environmental regulations is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management ASCM CPIM or CSCP Certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of design and reporting capabilities the Enterprise System: JD Edwards Enterprise One.
- Skilled in data mining techniques and reporting of information including use of Power BI, EXCEL PIVOT tables, relational database analysis and report generation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in the plastics industry, specifically polypropylene, polyethylene and PET.
- 10 years of management experience in material purchasing.
- Direct hire with full benefits
- 1st shift, Monday – Friday
- Salary range: $110K – $140K
