Nesco Data Center & Infrastructure is seeking a Systems Admin who can grow in to an IT Service Delivery Team Leader in the Greater Ashburn VA area in a fast-paced MSP environment.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven and experienced Systems Administrator with strong networking experience who is passionate about maintaining the health and performance of enterprise IT environments. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring system and network uptime, managing environment integrity, and supporting client delivery alongside a growing technical team.
This is a hands-on position with a clear path toward becoming a Team Lead, responsible for guiding a small group of Level 1 Help Desk Technicians. The right candidate will be someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates exceptional communication skills, and brings both a proactive mindset and a strong work ethic to the table.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems & Network Administration

Maintain the overall health and stability of servers, systems, and network infrastructure.

Perform routine system maintenance, software updates, backups, and security patching.

Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Work closely with vendors and internal teams to resolve escalated system or network issues.

Support endpoint management, domain control, file servers, cloud services, and firewalls.
Leadership & Client Delivery Support

Serve as the escalation point for complex issues raised by L1 technicians.

Collaborate with leadership to define and implement operational processes for client delivery.

Assist in coaching and mentoring junior team members to ensure consistent service delivery.

Help manage ticket queues and ensure issues are resolved in a timely, professional manner.
Communication & Collaboration

Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborate with internal departments and clients to understand and meet IT service needs.

Contribute to documentation efforts for infrastructure, procedures, and team operations.
Requirements:
-
3–5 years of experience in systems administration with exposure to networking.

Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).

Experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.

Demonstrated ability to manage environment health (performance, security, uptime).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to lead and mentor junior staff and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Solid understanding of ITIL concepts and help desk operations is a plus.

Must be able to work on-site Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as CompTIA Network , Security , MCSA, CCNA, or similar.

Experience working in a client-facing or MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment.

Exposure to ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, ServiceNow, Zendesk).

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Office 365 administration).
