BASIC FUNCTION
With limited supervision and minimal assistance, design, develop, and procure tooling as required by manufacturing. Develop CAD drawings and specifications with sufficient details to adequately communicate requirements. Assist in problem resolution and continuous improvement processes. Must be able to quickly evaluate an operation and make appropriate adjustments as necessary to insure safety, quality and maximize productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop and design all tooling, jigs and fixtures, test equipment, gauges as required
- Assist in the development, design and/or acquisition of new equipment
- Assists in the preparation of cost justification of capital projects
- Develop, evaluate and/or improve manufacturing methods and processes through tooling utilization and statistical data
- Insure timely turn around of tooling requirements
- Develop and implement procedures and/or processes to inspect tooling and to insure all tooling meets the minimum requirements.
- Assess simple tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as required
- Remanufacture simple tooling components using reverse engineering disciplines
- Safely operate necessary tool room equipment, including grinders, mills, lathes, etc.
- Must be willing to share knowledge of the trade and train associates l l. Must maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Must understand and abide by all plant rules and safety rules and regulations.
- Support all company goals and objectives.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and the total quality management process.
- Support all departments with tooling needs
- Follow verbal instructions to perform above duties.
- Housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or related experience and education
EXPERIENCE REOUIRED
Working knowledge of good manufacturing techniques and processes
2 plus years manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and/or stairs and perform work in confined positions. Yeager Eye Exam as applicable.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS
Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protecting and protective clothing. Must be able to work in temperature ranges generally corresponding with, or greater than the outside ambient temperature.
