Title: Ink Technician Location:
Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 and Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Starting Rate of Pay: $18
Job Overview:
The Ink Technician supports the operation of the ink department to ensure the presses have the necessary ink to run efficiently and without downtime. Under the direction of the Ink Manager, this position is responsible for color matching (drawdowns) and ensuring the highest quality of ink production. The Ink Technician follows established ink department practices and protocols to achieve maximum efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and mix inks according to specified formulas to meet production needs.
Perform color matching and adjustments to achieve desired shades and consistency.
Maintain accurate records of ink formulations and usage.
Monitor ink inventory levels and coordinate with Ink Technical Lead/purchasing to reorder supplies as needed to prevent shortages.
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of ink equipment and tools.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving ink-related issues during production.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.
Collaborate with press operators and quality control teams to address any color or ink-related concerns.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance ink department processes.
Train and support new team members in ink preparation and color matching techniques.
Perform quality checks on incoming ink supplies to verify specifications are met.
Manage waste disposal in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Maintain spectro densitometer calibration booklet.
Clean and maintain anilox roll documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the printing industry, preferably within the flexographic and/or digital printing industry.
Strong aptitude for color differentiation.
Basic knowledge of the manufacturing and application of pressure-sensitive labels
Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in computer applications.
Proven ability to train and instruct coworkers and customers effectively.
Capability to stand for extended periods on various surfaces and to perform tasks requiring reaching, twisting, bending, and stretching.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and precise depth perception.
Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug testing.
