Instrument Calibration, Maintenance & Preventative Maintenance (PM)
• Perform reactive maintenance on Air Flow Lab Test Systems & Components
• Perform reactive maintenance on Engine Lab Test Systems & Components
• Perform reactive maintenance on Vibration Lab Test Systems & Components
• Perform reactive maintenance on Fuel & Spray Lab Test Systems & Components
• Perform reactive maintenance on temperature and pressure monitoring instrumentation
• Perform reactive maintenance on all test system interfaces and wiring
• Perform bench pressure transducer calibrations
• Perform reactive maintenance for audio and video systems
• Service portable equipment
• Interface with lab personnel to identify and locate portable equipment at calibration intervals
• Setup and perform reactive maintenance of portable flow measurement systems
• Perform reactive maintenance for fuel measurement systems
• Perform post service calibrations, as required
• Fabricate interconnect wiring and cables in conformance to industry standards
• Perform bench repairs of instrumentation, as required
• Perform reactive maintenance on portable test room data acquisition systems (e.g., MDACS, ioTech, NI/CDAQ, etc.)
• Perform scheduled PM services on all PFSL Test Stands
• Perform scheduled PM services on portable equipment
• Utilize Ford Automotive Procedure, FAP03-015 to conduct in-situ instrumentation calibrations
• Utilize Druck, Pace, and/or Fluke standards to calibrate pressure transducers at all test stands (sites)
• Utilize Pace or Fluke pressure controller to perform bench calibrations of pressure transducers
• Use reference weights to calibrate portable scales
• Use standards to calibrate speed, temperature, dewpoint, flow, and frequency on various types of laboratory instrumentation and systems
• Perform Pre- and Post- Calibration system integrity checks (e.g., SOC, As Found, etc.)
• Create calibration reports resulting from the above-mentioned calibration tasks
• Support regularly scheduled Instrumentation & Calibration priority meetings
Additional Skills:
• Strong Computer skills with the ability to multitask
• Use of basic hand tools and advanced laboratory service tools
• Use of all current, and development of, laboratory diagnostic equipment
• Ability to use a Volt/Ohm meter
• Familiarity with an Oscilloscope and its usage
• Strong understanding of Engines, Battery Systems, and other vehicle systems and components
• Adequately stock an assigned inventory of commodities required to service a department asset
• Properly organize and store inventory items (Labeling, Location, etc.)
• Submit properly prepared purchasing requests for Ariba and Ford Credit Card processing
• Properly utilize ELMS and Trescal Equipment Database (TAMS)
Position Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Instrumentation Services
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- An Associates Degree in Electronics or BSEET or related field or equivalent experience.
- Must have outstanding interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach to assignments.
- Must be skilled in oral and written communication.
- Must have a working knowledge of Engines/Powertrains/Vehicles and their control systems and be skilled in the diagnosis and repair of these systems.
- Must be willing to work overtime and off shifts as required.
- Must be a self-starter and be willing to learn new job functions.
- Must have a good understanding of computer software operating principles and characteristics.
